  • What types of clients do you work with?

  • Do you only work with clients in California?

    No — we serve clients nationwide through secure, cloud-based systems like QuickBooks Online and Buildium. Our virtual model allows us to collaborate seamlessly with organizations anywhere in the U.S.

  • Who will I be working with directly?

    All client relationships are led personally by Melissa Marshall, founder and controller. Depending on your scope, you may also interact with a small support team trained under her supervision to ensure quality and consistency.

  • What does “full-cycle bookkeeping” include?

    Full-cycle bookkeeping covers every step of your accounting process — from daily transaction recording, payroll entries, and accounts payable/receivable to month-end reconciliations and financial-statement preparation. You’ll receive monthly reports (balance sheet, income statement, and cash-flow statement) so you can make informed decisions with confidence.

  • What are fractional controller services?

    Fractional controller services provide high-level financial oversight and strategy without the cost of a full-time hire. We handle budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting — delivering the same level of structure and insight as an in-house controller on a flexible, scalable basis.

  • Can you help clean up or fix messy books?

    Absolutely. Many new clients come to us after years of inconsistent records or system transitions. We specialize in historical cleanup, chart-of-accounts restructuring, and data verification so you can start fresh with accurate, organized financials.

  • Do you offer software setup or system implementation?

    Yes — we implement and optimize accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online, Buildium, and related integrations. This includes automations, bank-feed connections, custom reports, and standardized workflows that improve efficiency and accuracy.

  • Do you provide tax filing or preparation services?

    While we don’t file tax returns directly, we prepare all financial statements and documentation your CPA or tax preparer needs. Many clients find that our clean, reconciled records reduce tax-season stress and lower preparation costs.

  • How does onboarding work?

    We begin with a consultation to understand your business, accounting systems, and goals. After reviewing your current books, we develop a customized engagement plan outlining scope, timelines, and deliverables. Once access and tools are set up, we start with an initial cleanup (if needed) followed by ongoing monthly or quarterly services.

  • What accounting platforms do you use?

    Most clients use QuickBooks Online or Buildium. We also work with industry-specific tools and can recommend solutions based on your operations. All platforms are secure, cloud-based, and accessible from any device.

  • How do you ensure data security and confidentiality?

    Security is a top priority. We use encrypted portals, multi-factor authentication, and secure document-sharing systems. Client data is never stored locally and is only accessed by authorized personnel directly involved in your engagement.

  • How often will we communicate?

    You’ll receive consistent updates and check-ins — typically monthly or bi-weekly, depending on your service level. Melissa is also available via email or scheduled calls for questions and review meetings.

  • How do you price your services?

    Pricing is based on complexity, transaction volume, and scope. We offer both flat-rate monthly packages and hourly consulting options. A complimentary consultation helps determine the most cost-effective structure for your needs.

  • Is there a minimum engagement term?

    Most ongoing bookkeeping and controller clients sign three- or six-month agreements, though short-term cleanup or system projects are also available.

  • What payment methods do you accept?

    We accept ACH transfer, major credit cards, and invoicing through secure online payment portals.

  • How quickly can I expect to see results?

    Many clients notice immediate improvement in organization and transparency within the first 30 days. Full financial clarity — including reconciled books and actionable reporting — is typically achieved within one to three months, depending on the complexity of your records.
